WORKS - Bos&Lanting

Steven Bos and Susan Lanting met each other at art school in Amsterdam. After graduating they start working together on a variety of things such as 3D-video, installations, light-art, paintings and sculptures. They are also part of the pop-art-band Bos, Lanting, Douche & Khani and artist collective Stichting Barstow (Barstow Foundation).

The work of Bos&Lanting is a result of combined madness. Together they produce hallucinating images. No compromise, no prejudice but uncut diamonds and burning gasoline.

May Eternal Light Shine Upon Them (2010) is the first work they made as artist duo Bos&Lanting. It shows their naked bodies casted out of flexible foam and sequin fabric. Displayed on a rotating bed, our intestines exposed, but full with life. While working on May Eternal Light Shine Upon they have developed a fetish for sequin fabric. It’s shiny but cheap reflection forms the perfect material for their work and resembles the stone-cold tactility that we encounter in society. But without judgment, because it’s judgment that defeats us.

Since 2010 Bos&Lanting are experimenting with 3D-video, they feel that this medium is not yet been explored thoroughly in the arts. That is why they love to play with stereoscopy, creating new environments and experiences.

IN LIMBO is a series of 3D-video installations in which Bos&Lanting embrace the crystal happiness and indulge themselves in this godforsaken place filled with their anxieties and desires. The viewer is centered right in the middle of all these cold emotions and outrage, there is no escaping.
